Things to consider when choosing a solar company:

1. Panel manufacture?

2. What are REC’s (Renewable energy certificates)?
These are certificates (solar credits) that are issued when you use certain energy saving devices. You have the option of selling these yourself or using a company that will take your certificates and give you a discount upfront.

3. Warranties?
It is a good idea to use a company that provides warranties but also make sure they will be around long enough to claim these. Stand is 20-25 years for panel solar production with 80-85% efficiency and 10 years for the inverter and panel manufacturers warranty.

4. Do they have insurance?
They should have the relevant insurance and also be a member of the CEC and use electricians who are clean energy council BCSC accredited.

5. Will they help you chose the right system?
It is a large investment in your future. You want to get the right product from the start. No two houses are the same. So ideally you need a company that will look at your house and discus the options with you.
